How did KDG Event Management begin?
I recently got engaged to my beautiful fiancée. We had started planning for the future, then realized that expenses were starting to add up – a house, 2 weddings (1 in Calgary,1 in the Philippines), plans to have kids, and the list goes on. We all know things are expensive as ever. While I do have a solid full-time day job, I quickly began to realize that we needed more.
I’ve been in this industry doing events for more than 20 years. You wouldn’t believe the experience that I’ve gained throughout my career, working for the city’s largest convention centre managing the largest events, working for the largest event producer in the world doing comic cons around north America, planning festivals, improving the downtown’s public realm, the list goes on. Though I have done weddings throughout my career, I had never even considered doing them as a “side hustle”, but the more I did my research, the more weddings began to make sense.
As my fiancée and I embark on the journey towards marriage and this new chapter in our lives, I’ve come to realize that what makes me feel most like a man isn’t just strength and independence – it’s the commitment I make and the responsibilities I choose to carry. There is something deeply meaningful and beautiful about devoting yourself to another person, building a future together, and going through it… together. It would be an honour to help other couples experience a wedding day that reflects the same love, commitment, and excitement that we have come to understand more deeply as we prepare for our own marriage. I understand the importance of this moment – not just an event, but as the beginning of a lifelong journey between two people.
To be trusted with helping couples bring their vision to life, manage the details, and create a day where they can feel fully present with each other and their loved ones is something I take great pride in. Every couple has a unique story, and being part of the moment when they begin their next chapter together is a responsibility I would never take lightly so if you do choose KDG Event Management, enjoy your day. I got you.
This company is my love letter to my fiancée. Everything I do is for her, to give her the future and life she’s always dreamed of.
